Pulmonary Disease Fellowship
HOMETOWN: Cupertino, California
UNDERGRADUATE SCHOOL: University of California, Davis, Biomedical Engineering
MEDICAL SCHOOL: St. George’s University, Grenada
ABOUT ME: I moved to the United States at the age of 13 with my family with the goal of working hard and making a better future for ourselves. My interest in medicine sparked after completing my engineering degree and working for a medical device company. While developing devices and treatment modalities are intellectually stimulating, observing how it impacts a person’s life is far more satisfying. Despite the countless hours sweat, blood, tears and dollars spent towards my training, I do not regret my decision to pursue medicine on bit. During my training as an internal medicine resident, I became interested in pulmonary and critical care medicine. From prescribing inhalers in the calm setting of a clinic to placing an emergent chest tube in the high-acuity intensive care unit, the wide array of patient care opportunities pushed me to pursue a career in this field. I am currently applying to critical care fellowships to complete my training as a pulmonary critical care trained physician.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife and dog. I also enjoy playing video games and cooking in my free time.
ACADEMIC HIGHLIGHT: I have co-authored a number of academic articles that have been published in medical journals and have several more pending publication.
WHY EISENHOWER HEALTH? I had an amazing experience during my three years of residency at Eisenhower Medical Center, so I decided to stay for 2 additional years of pulmonary fellowship. What appeals to me most is the amount of support we get from the rest of the team (nurses, RTs, social workers, case manager, etc.) and the team mentality which ultimately benefits the patient. This kind of support from the staff allows me to focus on physician duties so we can provide the best quality of care for our patients. While some folks prefer the busy city life, I personally enjoy the relaxed, laid-back traffic free streets of the Coachella Valley.
