Simulation fellowships are not currently ACGME-accredited as a subspecialty. Our program is designed in alignment with the SSH Fellowship Accreditation standards and the SAEM Simulation Academy fellowship guidelines.

Yes. Fellows work eight 10-hour clinical shifts per month in the Tennity Emergency Department as part of their base salary, with additional internal moonlighting opportunities available at competitive rates. Continued clinical practice is a core feature of the fellowship — your simulation curricula stay grounded in real patient care.

The base fellowship salary is $125,000, which covers eight 10-hour clinical shifts per month plus all fellowship duties. Internal moonlighting at competitive rates is available for shifts above the base. Benefits include health/dental/vision, malpractice coverage, CME stipend, conference travel, and paid time off.

Fellows complete a capstone project that adds to and refines the existing simulation curriculum — there's no expectation to build a complete curriculum from scratch. We also expect one scholarly product (peer-reviewed manuscript, MedEdPORTAL submission, or equivalent) and at least one national conference presentation.

Yes — and this is one of the most distinctive features of our fellowship. Dr. Sebt personally helped build Eisenhower's simulation center and this fellowship program from the ground up. Fellows learn the full operational playbook: how to design the physical space, justify the budget, select equipment, build faculty buy-in, write the curriculum, credential a fellowship, and launch sustainable programs. Few fellowships offer hands-on apprenticeship in actually starting a sim center and fellowship.

The fellowship is structured so that graduates meet the eligibility requirements for Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. We support and reimburse the certification exam.

Absolutely. Fellows can focus on whatever excites them most — emphasis can range across administration, clinical care, academics, research, innovation, technology transfer, and much more. We also work closely with off-campus and community partners (including local paramedics and EMS agencies), so fellows interested in prehospital, EMS, or community education have a built-in pathway.
